Sadly yes. Maybe we are entering a new era of imperialism in which the bar must be set lower for global democracy initiatives while at the same time such initiatives actually gain importance as a line of defence, weak as it may be.
But any defence needs defenders with a perspective and a strong motivation. Here, in my view, lies the greatest weakness of global democracy initiatives at the moment. The dominating mood rather seems to be "you had your global turn, now let's get back to nationalism". Hope I'm wrong...
