Gas Safety (Amendment) Bill 2026 (Bill 2 of 2026)
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Electricity Regulation Act 1999 to provide for safety of the establishment, operation, maintenance, modification and use of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas and the decommissioning of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas infrastructure, in particular by requiring natural gas undertakings to prepare safety cases for natural gas activities designated by regulations and liquefied petroleum gas undertakings to prepare safety cases for liquefied petroleum gas activities designated by regulations and requiring such safety cases to be submitted to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities for acceptance and providing for the Commission, if it accepts the safety case concerned, to issue to the undertaking concerned a safety permit; to empower the Commission to be the appointing body for gas emergency officers in so far as liquefied petroleum gas is concerned and, also, to strengthen the powers and duties of such officers; to provide for appeals to appeal officers against certain decisions of the Commission; to revoke the Gas Safety (Liquefied Petroleum Gas Incident) Regulations 2014 and Regulation 6 of the Gas Safety (Liquefied Petroleum Gas Incident Reporting and Investigation) Regulations 2014; and to provide for related matters.oireachtas.ie/en/bills/bill/2026/2/
