Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Strengthening Communications in Natural Disasters) Bill 2026

Amends the: Telecommunications Act 1997 to require the Australian Communications and Media Authority to make a service provider determination in relation to minimum power requirements at high risk sites; and Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act 1999 to: enable the minister to make rules requiring temporary disaster roaming in certain circumstances; and provide that the provision of telecommunications services during natural disasters is an eligible purpose for which public interest telecommunications grants may be made.
